Residents of Sn Pablo, Bacacay, Albay receive Media Noche packs, kitchen utensils

Residents of San Pablo, Baracay, Albay line up to get Media Noche food packs and free kitchen utensils donated by Filminera Resources Corporation. At least 400 families, including 110 families of Indigenous people (IP) who are settled in the isolated community and 47 with totally damaged houses affected by typhoons Rolly and Ulysses, received the food packs and kitchen wares. Filminera gave P700,000 worth of relief goods in their first phase of donations; the second phase of the donations will be released in January for schools in San Pablo and another community with Global Medic as partners.

Filminera, along with PhilGold Processing & Refining Corp., operate the Masbate Gold Project in Aroroy, Masbate. Both firms have played a significant role in Aroroy’s reclassification from a 4th Class Municipality to a 1st Class Municipality. Filminera is the holder of the mining tenements, surface rights, and the Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA) while PhilGold is the holder of a mineral processing permit and owns and operates the processing plant.

Earlier this year, the two firms used their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) funds to donate P21.8M as financial assistance to communities, front liners, and government agencies in efforts to treat Covid-19 patients and help those who were affected by the lockdown. A P5.2M donation was also used to help rebuild damaged houses and give relief goods to families during the 6.6-magnitude earthquake in Masbate last August.
