“Let us carry within us a peace that forgives, a peace that helps others, a peace that remains silent yet upholds respect for humanity, and a peace that is rooted in love, even in the midst of the evil that others may inflict upon us.”

These were the words of Archbishop Emeritus Adolfo Tito Yllana, former Apostolic Nuncio to Israel during the Candlelight Rosary Procession for World Peace at the Basilica Minore de Peñafrancia, held on October 31.

Themed "INA: Reyna nin Katoninongan", the activity was a response to Pope Leo's call to pray for an end to the ongoing war and for reconciliation to occur among those affected.

"Praying for peace must also lead us to become instruments and living witnesses of peace, following the example of the Blessed Mother," Yllana said.

Hundreds of pilgrims gathered at the Basilica to join the procession, which was held at the Diamond Jubilee Pavilion, eve of the Solemnity of All Saints' Day.

There were five stations for meditating on the Joyful Mysteries. The youth participated in re-enacting the Biblical stories of each mystery.

In a social media post, the Basilica said that the religious activity was done in "communion with the Universal Church and that it stands in prayer and solidarity with our brothers and sisters who live and work in places were peace remains a deep longing".
