SCALE & STEEL, Mayor Tin 4x4 event mark Bicol first
SAN FERNANDO, Camarines Sur --- Some machines fit in the palm of your hand. Others need a trailer to get there.
At Rancho Del Pilar here, both shared the same terrain on Sept. 26 as SCALE & STEEL: Unleashed Fury and the 1st Mayor TIN 4x4 Off-Road Fun Race were held simultaneously in what organizers described as the first time an RC event and a full-scale 4x4 off-road event were staged together in the Bicol Region.
Organized by BACKDRAFT KING OF RC, with its representatives Karl Laquindanum and Ian Agawa helping bring the event together, SCALE & STEEL gave RC enthusiasts a venue to showcase their machines, test their skills, and connect with fellow hobbyists from across the region.
Running alongside the RC activities was the 1ST MAYOR TIN 4X4 OFF-ROAD FUN RACE, organized by San Fernando Mayor Tin Danabar-Fulgentes and her husband, Engr. Jordan Fulgentes.

With around 50 participants, the 4x4 event brought full-sized off-road machines into the same setting as their smaller, radio-controlled counterparts—creating an unusual but fitting meeting of two communities built around the same fascination with wheels, terrain, and the challenge of getting a machine through whatever stands in its way.
The combination was what made the gathering particularly significant.
Every carefully tuned crawler, modified rig, and competition-ready machine represents hours of building, testing, repairing, adjusting, and trying again.
The same spirit was evident among the full-sized 4x4s tackling the course.
But both were there for essentially the same reason: to see what their machines—and their own skills—could do when the terrain stopped being cooperative.
The event was supported by the Municipality of San Fernando, KUSOG San Fernando, BACKDRAFT, The Backdraft Pizza, RScene, Hi Lands RC Park, Bicol Petroleum, DV Racing RC Crawlers, Squarefoot Graphics & Ads, Next Bus, FJC Raels Food Service, DCTV, 1STOP Fix & Build, DIRC, and MEUS.
