NAGA CITY — With just a few days left before the start of classes on June 16, public and private schools across Naga City are in the final stretch of preparations for the return of thousands of students.
Campus grounds are being swept clean, classrooms are getting last-minute touch-ups, and teachers are busy arranging chairs, decorating bulletin boards, and reviewing schedules. After weeks of Brigada Eskwela, many schools now resemble welcoming spaces once again — ready to receive both new and returning learners.
In various barangays, residents and volunteers have pitched in to help repaint walls, fix roofs, and spruce up school grounds. There's a growing sense of anticipation in the air — a mix of excitement, anxiety, and the familiar back-to-school energy.
Parents can be seen in school supply stores, ticking off lists of notebooks, pens, and uniforms. Children talk about meeting new classmates, while some are still adjusting to the thought of waking up early again after the break.
On the roads, preparations are also noticeable. Traffic signs near schools are being checked, and drop-off points are being re-marked. School gates are being cleared, ready for the usual Monday morning rush.
The school year ahead will continue to focus on building back foundational skills in reading, writing, and numeracy. With the recent updates to the curriculum and ongoing efforts to improve classroom learning environments, many are hopeful that students in Naga will begin the year with stronger support and more meaningful learning experiences.
As Monday draws near, the city is buzzing with activity — and a quiet hope that this school year will be smoother, stronger, and more inspiring for everyone stepping back into the classroom.
