Sorsogon weekend road mishap kill 6, injures 13

LEGAZPI CITY --- Six persons were killed including a public-school teacher while 11 others sustained multiple injuries in a vehicular accident that happened last week in Barangay San Rafael in the municipality of Castilla in the province of Sorsogon, report reaching Camp Gen. Simeon Ola on Saturday said.

Police Lt. Col. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, PNP Bicol regional spokesman, identified the casualties of the vehicular accident last Friday at 3:45 PM, which involved a passenger jeepney and wing van, as: Maribel Lomerio Pardillo, 45 years a resident of Barangay Cumadcad, Castilla, Sorsogon;

Karen Jamisola Maquiñana, 45, a public school teacher and a resident of Barangay Talisay, Sorsogon City; Erik Dino Deonida, 19, a resident of San Roque, Bacon District, Sorsogon City; Heidy Locsin Albao, 58, of Barangay Buenavista, Castilla, Sorsogon;

Amparo Candia Bajaro, 60, of Barangay San Isidro, Castilla, Sorsogon and Janelle Abarientos, 17, a resident of Barangay Cumadcad, Castilla, Sorsogon.

The six casualties were rushed to the nearest hospital for immediate medical treatment but declared dead on arrival. While 13 others sustained injuries.

The 13 persons who sustained injuries were: Merly Abarietos; Antonio Marco, 65, a resident of Brgy. Bucal-Bucalan, Sorsogon City; Muhammad Aiman, 35, of Barangay Cumadcad, Castilla, Sorsogon; Arjay Desuyo, 23;

Richele Lasay Destura, 45, a resident of Barangay Balogo, Sorsogon City; Nida Habulan Peralta, 45, of Barangay San Isidro, Castilla, Sorsogon; Rose Dame E. Diesta, 23, of Barangay Cumadcad, Castilla, Sorsogon; John Juris Valle, 20, of Barangay San Rafael, Castilla, Sorsogon;

James Lorence Marigundon, 15, of Barangay Sogoy, Castilla, Sorsogon; April Habana Gojo, 20, a resident of Biriran, Juban, Sorsogon; Erica Joy Carillo, 22, of Barangay Pangpang, Sorsogon City; Kayle Mae Castro, 20, of Barangay Sampaloc, Sorsogon City and Alia Desonia, 19 years old and a resident of Barangay Sampaloc, Sorsogon City.

Based on the police report the Isuzu wing van bearing plate number CBN 1317, registered to Benjo F Garcia and driven by Marlon De Leon Lorenzo, 51, of Barangay San Vicente, Gapan City, Nueva Ecija was traversing from Sorsogon City to Legazpi City when it had a head-on collision with a passenger jeepney with plate number EVF 866 and registered under the name of the driver Rodolfo A. Licup Jr, 53 years old, a resident of Barangay Buenavista in Sorsogon City which was then traversing the opposite direction.

The accident resulted in the death of six passengers and wounding of 13 others.

Report said that the two vehicles collided within the curve lane that happened after the passenger jeepney counter flowed.

As a result, both vehicles incurred an undetermined amount of damage while passengers of the jeepney were rushed by the responding MDRRMO at Castilla District Hospital for medical attention.

Several passengers of the public utility vehicle sustained injuries while the six passengers were declared dead on arrival by attending physician, Precious Marie T Gonzales.

The driver of Isuzu wing van driver was placed under the custody of police station for proper disposition. While the jeepney driver was undergoing medical treatment at Sorsogon Provincial Hospital.
