South Korean natural agriculture advocate to lead seminars in Bicol

A natural agriculture advocate from South Korea will spearhead a series of seminars in the Bicol region, highlighting Integrated Agriculture Natural Production Technologies this coming October.

Leading the seminars, which will be conducted free of charge from October 12 to 17 in Camarines Sur and Albay, is Andry Lim. He will share technologies that promote urban gardening, edible gardening, and FAITH, which stands for “Food Always In The Home.”

The Ambag nin Bicolandia sa Agrikultura movement, in a press release, said the seminars aim to share these Integrated Agriculture Natural Production Technologies with everyone who pledges to commit to and apply them.

Through these technologies, the organizers hope to convince participants to commit to establishing community gardens with and through groups, barangays, and schools.

As of this writing, the organizers have yet to announce the registration process and venues, although the series of lectures and trainings will be free of charge to everyone interested.

The organizers noted that Lim is well-loved, respected, and esteemed by those who know him. He attended a seminar on Korean Natural Farming Technology held somewhere in the country in 1997 and led by Dr. Cho Han Kyu, a Korean natural farming specialist.

The seminar influenced him to become an advocate and practitioner of organic agriculture in the Philippines, particularly natural farming technology. Together with his wife, Jojie Gamboa Lim, he has conducted seminars across the country.

He was awarded the Secretary’s Award for Outstanding Organic Agriculture Initiative by the Department of Agriculture during the 6th Organic Congress held on October 13-15, 2009.

In 2018, he received the ASEAN Agrow Award and the Dati Bago Award for the Agriculture and Environment category in 2020.

Today, he is the manager and family farm consultant of a 30-hectare farm and the New City Commercial Center in Davao City.
