Behind the scourged and bloodied face of Our Divine Lord lies the story of our salvation. What can we see if we unveil the sadness on His face?

A CHEERFUL BABE in the manager

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” – Jn 3:16

The cheerful Babe in the manager will one day walk the earth, teach and heal and die for us. Little did His mother and father know what suffering He will bear. But at that moment, they gazed on that cheerful Babe, locked in His mother’s arms and gazing back at them, thankful for their faith in the Father.

A MEEK and GENTLE FRIEND

“Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart.” – Mt 11:29

It is a privilege to have a meek and humble friend, someone we can trust, someone we can emulate. In a time where competition, pride, dishonesty, and worldly concerns take center stage, Jesus comes to us, meek and humble, proving that He has conquered the vile of the world.

An ITINERANT TEACHER

“Jesus went to Capernaum in Galilee and taught the people on the Sabbath Day.” – Lk 4:31-44

Jesus traveled a lot by foot to the different cities and towns in Israel to teach in their synagogues. Though we have churches where we worship and listen to the Word of God, there are still a lot of places in the mountains and coastal areas where preachers are needed. The shepherd has to be near and with the sheep.

Our DIVINE HEALER

“Son of David, have mercy on me!” – Mk 10:47-48

Bartimaceus acknowledges Jesus’ royal lineage, cries for healing and regained his sight because of his faith. Do we acknowledge Jesus as Our Lord and Savior? Do we believe He has the power to heal us?

A SERVANT LEADER

“I did not come to be served but to serve.” – Mk 10:45

Jesus teaches that true greatness and leadership are found in service. How often do we see people who claim to be servants but are in fact in the position to enrich themselves?

Our SAVIOR

“For the Son of man came to seek and save the lost.” – Lk 19:10

We are all sinners. We need a savior: Jesus Christ!
