Tinagba on the Solemnity of Christ the King
By Dr. Ma. Asuncion P. Quimlat
The Immaculate Conception Parish in Naga City celebrated the Annual Tinagba Festival on the Solemnity of Christ the King on November 26. The parish started the yearly activity in 2010 with the intention of bringing parishioners together to worship the King of all kings in a spirit of thanksgiving for all blessings received. It has since become a tradition among the parishioners.
The Tinagba, or harvest festival, started with a Mass celebrated by Parish Priest Fr. Marcel Emmanuel Real at 6:30 in the morning. During the Mass, the parishioners, while on their knees, consecrated themselves to Christ the King. They also offered gifts in cash and kind which will be shared with the orphanages and institutions within the Parish as well as those in need. Before the final blessing, there was a procession of the Blessed Sacrament from the altar to the statue of Christ the King at the church patio.
The final blessing in front of the image of Christ the King made the celebration more meaningful. The Tinagba Offerings laid at the feet of Christ the King signifies the parishioners’ desire to offer everything to Him. The celebration ended by sharing and partaking of a simple breakfast prepared by the Saradit na Kristyanong Komunidad, Religious Organizations, Ministries and served by 3Ps volunteers.
