Bacacay mourns the loss of Vice Mayor Carlito Bercasio, who tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in a vehicular accident just a day after the incident happened in Bacacay, Albay.
Mayor Edsel Belleza took to social media to announce the heart-breaking news, expressing deep condolences to Bercasio family, friends, and constituents. Bercasio, revered as a dedicated public servant and a shining example of wisdom, leaves behind a profound legacy of service and compassion in the community.
The accident occurred as Vice Mayor Bercasio was returning home from a village fiesta in Barangay Bonga. Despite immediate medical attention at Cope General Hospital and subsequent transfer to the University of Santo Tomas hospital, Bercasio, 60, could not be saved.
His passing marks yet another blow to Bacacay, following the untimely demise of Mayor Amando “Dinky” Romano just six months earlier. Bercasio, who served as a municipal councilor for 17 years before assuming the role of Vice Mayor, leaves behind a legacy of humility, kindness, and unwavering dedication to public service.
In the wake of this tragedy, the Sangguniang Bayan once again faces the challenge of electing a temporary presiding officer to ensure the smooth functioning of municipal affairs.
As Bacacay grieves the loss of another beloved leader, the community unites in prayer for Vice Mayor Bercasio and for the resilience of their town during this difficult time.
