The ULTRUN 50 Naga City Ultramarathon, held on August 24, 2025, proved that it is more than a test of endurance — it is a celebration of passion, perseverance, and community spirit.

Race Director Tolits Calmada shared that ULTRUN was designed to give runners more than just a race. “Our mission is to make every step fun, every mile meaningful, and every finish line a celebration,” he said. Co-organizer Charmaine Lioc added, “We want every participant to bring home not just a medal or a shirt, but stories of friendship, strength, and unforgettable experiences.”

Preparations took four months, with one of the biggest hurdles being the production of race singlets and shirts after a last-minute surge of registrants. Still, the team delivered — from quality race inclusions and well-stocked hydration stations to thoughtful touches like muscle pain relief sprays along the route.

The event’s success was made possible with the support of the Naga City Government, especially the Tourism Office led by Sir Allen Reondanga, and the Investment and Tourism Promotion Office under Mr. Reuel Oliver.

Beyond being a sporting event, ULTRUN 50 has boosted local tourism and businesses while inspiring a culture of fitness and unity. Highlights included the Pure Naga City 50KM Route, which showcased the city’s vibrant energy, and the ULTRUN photo walls where runners proudly celebrated with family and friends.

The race also honored inspiring participants such as the Oldest Male Runner, Wilmor Plopinio, 68, and Oldest Female Runner, Jackie Tena, 51.

For Calmada and Lioc, ULTRUN 50 is not just a race but a growing tradition — one that strengthens Naga’s identity as a hub of champions, pride, and world-class events.
