LEGAZPI CITY --- Albay province is gearing up to host the 96th National Assembly of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines from Feb. 28 to March 2.

In a Tuesday interview, Vice Governor Glenda Bongao expressed that the gathering of deputy governors nationwide will significantly benefit the province’s tourism and local economy.

“This event will have a substantial impact on the province. Not only will the vice governors attend, but also their entourage, which will contribute to promoting Albay. A positive experience here may lead them to include Albay in their future plans with family, councils, and recommendations,” she stated.

Bongao mentioned that at least 120 participants have already confirmed their attendance, and the Department of Trade and Industry will set up a product display featuring sought-after Albay products, including salted pili, bags, and signature flavors like pinangat and sili ice cream.

The plenary session, a highlight of the event, will delve into topics such as anti-poverty, Albay local governance, resilience, and disaster risk management, showcasing Albay as a model province in disaster risk management.

Participants will also explore various tourist destinations, including the giant statue of Nuestra Señora de Salvacion, Sumlang Lake, Quituinan Ranch, Cagsawa Ruins, and Bicol National Museum.

Confirmed attendees include vice governors from Laguna, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Zamboanga del Sur, Surigao del Sur, Sarangani, Capiz, Benguet, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, and Zamboanga Sibugay, among others.
