Voters listing goes on despite MECQ

By Paulo DS. Papa

Voters registration is continuing despite the imposition of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in Naga City, lawyer Maico Julia Jr., the city’s Commission on Election (Comelec) chief said.

To recall, the Comelec in a resolution on Sept. 2, 2021 allowed voters’ registration in areas under MECQ in consideration of the appeal of numerous groups.

The national Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) placed Naga City and other areas in the country under MECQ from Oct.1-15, 2021.

Julia said voters registration during MECQ was allowed to give people the opportunity to register for the 2022 national and local polls.

He said the registration of voters, which was extended until Oct. 30, will resume on Oct. 11 after the filing of certificate of candidacy.

Julia said the resumption of registration will be held again in one of the shopping malls in the city.

Comelec offices are open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday only, except on Oct. 30, a Saturday and the last day of registration to accommodate more registrants.
