Worker slain by farmer

By Paulo DS. Papa

A 40-year old construction worker from Barangay Payak, Bato, Camarines Sur was hacked to death in the evening of Thursday, June 3, by his long-time friend, a farmer from the same village, a police report said.

PSSG Roger Vincent Tuyay, Bato municipal police investigator, identified the victim as Joel Valle, 40, a widower with seven children. Tuyay said the suspect, Ramir Sesno, also of the same barangay, fled after the hacking incident and is still at large as of press time.

Tuyay, in an interview, told Bicol Mail that the suspect was claiming that one of the victim’s children is his child, the product of an extra-marital relationship with the victim’s wife when the latter was still alive. He said the victim did not believe the claim of the suspect due to lack of evidence. He added that the victim’s wife died during childbirth a few years ago.

Five of the victim’s children are minors, the two others are age 18 and 22.

Based on the investigation, the suspect hacked the victim at around 8:00 PM of June 3 while the latter was sleeping beside his children.

The victim suffered two fatal wounds, one in the back and another in the neck.
