By Myrna S. Bermudo

The Caceres Youth Commission will pilot the 2022 National Youth Day (NYD) Celebration in the Vicariate of St. John the Baptist in Partido district.

Based on the primer signed by Fr. Daniel Royo Vegas, director of the Caceres Youth Commission, the gathering aims to “become an occasion for young people to learn from the example of Mary as they make prayer an essential part of their spiritual life, re- awaken their relationship with one another as one body of Christ in the spirit of synodality and respond to the call of mission in a specific situation or need in one’s community.”

The NYD 2022 will be held from 1:00 pm of December 17 to 12:00 pm of December 18, 2022. It will on a face-to-face and on-site event in the Vicariate of St. John Baptist (Partido District) and will be hosted by the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of St. Joseph In San Jose , Camarines Sur.

The Vicariate of St. John the Baptist consists of the following parishes: St. John the Baptist Parish in Goa, St. Joseph Parish and Shrine in San Jose, St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Sabang San Jose, Sts. Philip and James the Apotles Parish in Lagonoy, St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in Maangas Presentacion, St. Francis Xavier Parish in Halawigogon Goa, St. Martin the Porres Parish in Tagongtong Goa, St. Luke Parish in Digdigon Goa and San Roque Mission Station in Omalo, Lagonoy. The Holy Rosary Preparatory Seminary community is also part of the vicariate.

Immersion activities with select host families will be part of the highlight of the youth gathering. Each delagation will be assigned to a host family who will serve as foster home.

NYD is observed by CBCP as a special day where the church expresses her great love and preferential apostolate for the youth. CBCP has approved, in 1986, that the annual celebration of NYD will be every December 16, first day of the Misa De Aguinaldo.

“Mary arose and went with haste” (Lk. 1:39) was the theme offered by Pope Francis for the yearly celebration of the Local World Youth Day since 2000. It hopes to lead young people to a meaningful celebration of their faith, with the Blessed Virgin Mary as example and guide.

Who can participate? It is open to the young people who are at least 15 years old and belongs to the Parish Youth Ministry (PYM) of the ten parishes. They must be fully vaccinated against Covid19. Each parish may send ten (10) participants with a delegation head who will be responsible for the overall welfare of the delegation and will coordinate with the organizers. PYMs from other districts may also join.

To participate, all must register on or before December 11. For more details, please contact the organizers through their social media account: https://facebook.com/CaceresYouthCommission or via email caceresyouthcommission@gmail.com.
